Tesla Launches ‘Charge & Dine’ Concept in Hollywood

The facade of the new and futuristic restaurant in Hollywood TechCrunch/LinkedIn

Last week, the Tesla diner Hollywood launch marked the automaker’s pivot into the food industry. Just like X Corp is looking to morph its messaging platform into an everything app, Tesla may be on the verge of diversification.

Elon Musk’s Tesla diner just turned EV charging into a full-blown dining experience. If sustained, this will set the automaker on a path to popularizing the charge and dine concept. The Tesla diner Hollywood launch unveiled an EV charging restaurant with some signature features. Trust Elon Musk to always leave his customers gawking. The futuristic restaurant has Optimus robot servers, Cybertruck boxes, drive-in movies and over 80 Superchargers.

Drivers no longer have to idle around while giving their electric vehicles a power boost. From afar, first sighters may mistake the new Elon Musk Tesla diner for a tech innovation hub. However, the EV restaurant concept is a breath of fresh air for the Tesla Supercharger social hub.

Inquisitive enough to check out what all the Tesla diner Hollywood launch is about? The door of the 9,300 square-foot Tesla diner, located on Santa Monica Boulevard, is open around the clock. Chef Eric Greenspan designs the menu of the EV charging restaurant. Regulars on the menu are shakes, chicken & waffles and smash burgers. Remember that Tesla’s mission statement sings the praises of sustainable and green energy? This institutional dealbreaker features in the new diner’s kitchen, as it’s fully electric, with no gas energy source.

Another perk for Tesla EV owners is that they can enjoy in-car ordering. Thanks to the robotaxi geofence, the Tesla diner receives a notification and starts preparing the meal when the guest is about 15-20 minutes out.

Speculators suggest the Tesla diner Hollywood launch is only a pilot scale of another Musk pet project. However, Musk left hints while replying to a request on his micromessaging app that the next Tesla diner outlet may spring up at Starbase. Many on-site reviewers of the Tesla diner Hollywood launch loved the charge-and-dine experience. Indeed, some even suggested they would love to see more outlets at Supercharger sites around the country.

Unfortunately, not everyone is happy with the billionaire’s new win. According to a notice on the Action Network website, faithfuls of the Tesla Takedown movement are planning to converge at the new restaurant on July 26. It turns out the group has a few bones to pick with Elon Musk and plans to lead a protest calling for the new Tesla diner to be shut down.
