Recall Alert: Taco Dinner Kits Pulled for Undeclared Milk Allergen — What You Should Know

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) amplified an Aldi taco kit recall on October 28, 2025. Teasdale Foods, Inc., made a similar announcement a few days before the FDA, about the presence of undeclared milk in a recent batch of its products. The product recall involves two branded food items sold at Aldi store outlets—Casa Mamita, Martin’s and Giant. Apparently, the case is not one of food contamination, but one of potential allergen exposure. The taco kit recall is an effort to prevent cases of severe allergic reactions to milk in unsuspecting customers.

Teasdale Foods, Inc. realized the taco kit mix-up after receiving multiple consumer complaints on the matter. After some investigation, the company discovered that the taco dinner kits contained cocoa mix packets, not standard taco seasoning. Consequently, consumers who are allergic to milk may ingest it in the cocoa mix packets without realizing it. Since the recipes for Casa Mamita and Martin’s Giant do not include milk, the item is not on the taco dinner kits label.

Investigations would later reveal that the error arose after Teasdale’s third-party seasoning supplier accidentally mislabeled the packets. Someone out there is probably ruling off the FDA’s decision to noise the Aldo taco kit recall as unnecessary. However, a good understanding of food allergies will help such naysayers realize that some allergic reactions could be life-threatening. The public sensitization about the Teasdale glitch may just be the lifesaver for some taco consumers.

So far, tracking technology reveals the batch of taco kits is only on sale at Aldi, Martin’s and Giant stores in 28 states. If you have purchased taco kits recently, in any of the following states, please check your pantry. West Virginia, Wisconsin, Vermont, Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Mississippi, Michigan, Maryland, Massachusetts, Louisiana, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Georgia, Florida, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Connecticut, and Alabama are the states affected by the Aldi taco kit recall.

Also, Teasdale has been magnanimous enough to supply customers with the identifier codes of the affected taco batch. So, do well to check the taco kits in your food stash for the following details:

The FDA’s notice of the taco kit recall explains that the culpable product is not harmful to milk-tolerant individuals. Indeed, no allergic reactions or sicknesses have been reported in connection with the undeclared milk allergen. Nonetheless, Teasdale Food, Inc. insists that customers avoid consuming the mislabelled products. Instead, the advice is to return the recalled taco kit to the point of purchase to request a full refund.
